The Cover

Wink chose a Tencel cover for its beds. Tencel has a soft, luxurious feel designed to keep you cool and dry throughout the night. Tencel is a 100% natural, eucalyptus-based performance fabric. Tencel is more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen (think UnderArmour!). The superior moisture control helps keep you cool and dry throughout the night. No more tossing and turning because you are hot. Tencel is also naturally anti-microbial by resisting dust mites, bacteria and allergens. Comfort Layer

Tufted to the top layer is 2-3 inches of premium cooling gel foam. It enables airflow and wicks away body heat and moisture. The gel pulls heat away from your body, keeping you cool all night long.

The primary comfort layer comes from Wink’s patented AirCell memory foam. This quick response foam relieves pressure while providing pushback support. Depending upon the model, Wink varies the density so the soft bed remains soft and the firm is firm.

AirCeII’s memory foam addresses all the shortfalls of traditional memory foam, while maintaining the same pressure-relieving and body-contouring properties that made memory foam famous in the first place. Its secret is that AirCell™ isn’t visco-based. Instead, it has an open-cell structure using billions of micro air capsules that improves upon its pressure-relieving and comfort-molding reaction to body weight and heat, all while increasing its durability.

Support System

GravityLux’s support system employs both Progression Foam and Atlas Core foam underneath its comfort layer. The Progression Foam™ layer provides targeted support that pushes back in areas like the hips and lumbar region while plying in areas like the shoulders and legs. 1.8lb density ATLAS Core™ foam provides pushback support and sag-proof lifetime durability, making the GravityLux one of the most durable mattresses on the market. Wink support layers are zoned because the more zones, generally the greater the support. The greater zones provide additional support where it counts (the middle third of our body) to provide a relaxing comfortable sleep all night long. Tufting

Tufting is the process where the individual parts of the mattress are either sewn or glued together to prevent slippage. How about Edge Support?

Wink reinforces the outer edge of the mattress with denser foam to make sure the mattress edge is “sag free”. This edge support increases the sleeping area so, for example, if one partner is a bed hog, the other partner can rest soundly on the edge.

Three Distinct Comfort Styles (Soft, Medium and Firm)

No matter which style you choose, just by the solid look of the Winkbed GravityLux, you know you’ll be sleeping on a comfortable yet very supportive mattress for many years to come. There’s a reason the Winkbed is nicknamed the “Hotel Bed”. It looks (and feels) like it belongs in a four star hotel. Let’s take a closer look at the different styles.

GravityLux Soft

WinkBeds designed the soft for sleepers with a preference for a plush, cloud-like comfort level. And they nailed it. Geared for side sleepers, or sleepers that want a lot of sink, the Soft’s 3 layers of gel foam along with the AirCell™ Shock-Absorbing Memory Foam pull you in right away. The responsiveness of the patented foams respond quickly so you do not experience that “quicksand” sinking feeling that you can’t escape. The gel top will envelop and contour to your body more than its firmer cousins such as the Medium. That said, after a few minutes, as you settle into the mattress, you can begin to feel the superior support from the denser foam layers underneath. You will definitely feel more “in it” than on top of it, but you won’t sacrifice the support.

With the soft, exclusive side sleepers get the best of both worlds as they will get the most pressure and spinal alignment due to the sinking of the hip and shoulder regions. Because the bed envelops you more, some think that might make the bed sleep warmer or even hotter. This is not the case with Winkbeds. The cooling gel combined with the air flow design and the Tencel cover keep this plush bed cool all evening long.

The sweet spot for weight is up to 200 lbs (especially for side sleepers). Above that weight, you’ll start to lose the benefit of the pressure relief from the gel as your body rests more on the springs. At that size, you might consider the Medium model as the comfort layer provides additional support and comfort relief.

GravityLux Medium

Looking for the perfect blend of comfort and support? Look no further than Wink most popular GravityLux medium version. It’s the “just right” spot for even the choosiest customers who like a medium feel. Not too firm and not too soft, and it’s a MULTISLEEPER so it is designed for all sleep positions and body sizes. Immediately upon laying on the Medium, you can feel the cooling gel take you in but you quickly feel the substantial support cradling your body. Almost immediately you will feel the support of the dense core push back and cradle your body no matter which position you sleep. The Medium is a true MULTI SLEEPER, designed to support all sleeping styles, side, stomach, back and any combination therein. You will feel just enough pressure relief on the top of the mattress but you are also going to have the support system that is going to keep you “on” the mattress rather than “in” the mattress as in the soft. No matter your sleeping style, you cannot go wrong with this mattress. It’s going to have the cooling factors minus the deep enveloping. The top comfort layer is 2 inches to give it a slightly firmer feel. It has a little less pressure relief than the Soft, a little more pressure relief than the Firm, but with the same support to keep your body aligned correctly.

This is a MultiSleeper, designed for all sleeping styles.
The luxurious comfort layer provides a little bit of sink, but even so, the superior airflow design and advanced cooling technology will keep you cool and dry all night long.

GravityLux Firm

As the name denotes, this bed is pretty firm, some say it feels hard. Great for those who sleep on their stomach or back and also enjoy an overall firmer feel.
It has the same 2 in thick comfort as the Medium, but it is denser. Back and side sleepers will get the most comfort from the Firmer mattress. Side sleepers may get away with it but you lose the softer luxury feel in the softer versions. You will definitely not sink as much as you sleep “on top” of this mattress. The bed still packs in all of the same cooling features as it’s cousins so you will sleep cool and dry throughout the night. If you do end up on your side, you won’t have as much pressure relief. You will, however, have the same cooling factors and of course support.

On Sandman’s Firmness Scale, we rate Firmer a 8 out of 10.
Stomach and back sleepers will get the most benefit out of the Firmer version. Any side sleepers should look more toward the Medium.
The firm comfort layer provides very little sink, but even so, the superior airflow design and advanced cooling technology will keep you cool and dry all night long.
Edge support is excellent – no side sagging here!

Motion Isolation (no motion transfer)

All GravityLux beds have superior motion isolation. Simply put, you will not feel your partner move at night. Whether they are a toss and turner, an early riser or using the facilities, it’s not the bed that will wake you. No springs = no motion transfer. The high density gel foam by its very nature does not transfer motion. It absorbs energy.

How does it arrive?

Wink compresses their GravityLux mattress and rolls it into a box. And, with no sacrifice to quality and durability. The way Wink compresses its mattresses, they keep their shape and strength. The box arrives via Fedex or White Glove Delivery if you choose. Simply unbos the mattress, rest it on the bed frame and remove the plastic wrapping and the bed will decompress before your eyes. What’s the Return Policy? Can I exchange it for either a softer or firmer model?
