We’ll get into the Nectar Premier next, but first, let’s take a look at the construction and materials that go into this award winning mattress.

The Cover

Nectar’s upgraded Premier Hybrid mattress starts with a soft, breathable poly-blend cover. They added cooling properties within the weave so that it is cool to the touch. While not “cold” to the touch (that comes later with the Nectar Premier Copper) the cover feels plush and is designed to wick away moisture throughout the night.

Comfort Layers (They’ve got 3!)

The Nectar Premier Hybrid captures its comfort for all sleeping position through 3 layers (4 inches of comfort and pressure relief) in this 13 inch mattress.

1. In the first comfort layer, Nectar introduces 1 inches of gel infused
   

   

   breathable memory foam with Active Cool HD.  This contour and comfort layer provides pressure relief with cushion and support in the most sensitive areas (shoulders and hips).  This allows for proper spinal alignment and a more comfortable night’s sleep.  Active Cool HD is a phase change material that reacts to your body temperature and pulls heat from the body without returning it.  The breathable foam allows air flow to remove excess heat from the mattress.

2. Below the cooling foam is 2 inches of Nectar’s ultra supportive Active Lift layer. This is not only a pressure relieving foam but it is the higher dense foam that will have more energy absorption to cradle to the body like a cloud should.  The gel layer above pulls you in, so you don’t feel like you are stuck in one position for the entire night.
3. Below the cooling foam is 1 inches of Nectar’s dynamic support foam. This is not only a pressure relieving foam but it is the higher dense foam that will have more energy absorption to cradle to the body like a cloud should. The dynamic foam provides a firmer responsive feel that helps promote proper spinal alignment.

Support Layer

For support, Nectar chose a 8′ Infinity Innerspring Coils With Extra Edge Support.  These individually pocketed coils allows for consistent proper support for those sleepers up to 200 pounds. Eight inches of individually wrapped coils provide breathable edge-to-edge support and cushion your body’s curves. The perimeter is constructed with thicker coils for enhanced edge support.

The Base

The shift-resistant lower cover is on the bottom of the mattress. It is designed to prevent slippage to the base holding the mattress. While the bed won’t slip around at night, the lightweight nature of the foam comfort and support layers can cause movement of the mattress when one gets out of bed in the morning.  However, with the grip base: no slip-and-slide here!

Tufting

Nectar top-tufts the mattress, securing the cover to the top foam layer. This is important to keep the mattress parts from shifting. The mattress surface is flat. Does it Sleep Cool?

YES! Nectar chose 3 technologies to ensure a cool, comfortable and dry night’s sleep in the Nectar Premier Mattress. It starts with the cooling cover that wicks away moisture. Then is followed by two layers of gel infused comfort and pressure relieving foam. Gel is designed to pull away heat from the body (think osmosis from Jr. High science class!).  Finally, the springs are individually wrapped to promote airflow.  All three layers are designed with air circulation in mind so after the gel pulls the heat away, airflow removes the heat from the mattress. The result, a neutral to cool temperature throughout the night keeping you dry and well rested all evening.

How about Edge Support?

Edge support comes from the reinforced edge coils. But it has to go through 4 inches of pressure relieving foam before you get to it. As a result, the edge support on the Nectar Premier Hybrid is very good.  You can sleep all the way to the edge without the falling off feeling.

The Nectar Premier comes with several key comfort and support upgrades over the original Nectar Hybrid Mattress.  This starts with the silky smooth stretch fabric cover infused with phase change cooling gel.  Cool to the touch, your first contact with the Nectar Premier Hybrid lets you know you’ll be sleeping on a luxurious mattress.  This is followed closely by the stress relieving cooling comfort of the gel infused foam contour layer.

The Nectar Premier is designed as a multi-sleeper which means it supports side, stomach and back sleepers alike. However, side sleepers will realize the most immediate benefit as the pressure points of the shoulder, lower back and hips feel immediate relief.  This comes from the thicker comfort layer that contours more of the body.  The comfort foam layers remain highly responsive, meaning they fill in the crevices quickly when weight is taken off (instead of some foams that keep the energy and make it difficult to move around).

Stomach and back sleepers will also feel very nice pressure relief, but side sleepers feel the most. However, you quickly rest upon the 8 inch coil support layer helping to align the spine, putting you body in a relaxed state. The key to any good night sleep is spinal alignment, usually when our mattress does not allow for proper spinal alignment we toss and turn at night, sometimes waking with back, hip or shoulder pain. Up to 220 pounds, the Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress should provide enough support to keep the body aligned for years with the mattress. Over 220 may require additional support (the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid). However, for the budget category to which the Nectar Premier Hybrid falls, they have made a comfortable mattress with superior support at an excellent price.

Very Good! While the Nectar Premier Hybrid has a coil support system, Nectar has employed several techniques to mitigate motion transfer.  First, the 4 inches of pressure relieving gel helps to dampen any transfer.  The open celled technology within the foam does not transfer motion so you will not feel your partner throughout the night.  Second, the coils are individually wrapped to help isolate the support system.  If you seek absolute motion isolation, look towards the all foam Nectar Premier.  Otherwise, the Premier Hybrid should have you sleeping soundly and undisturbed throughout the night.

The Nectar Premier arrives compressed and wrapped up in a box for easy shipping and moving to the bedroom.  It’s crazy to think that a king size mattress with powerful springs can be compressed, but it can. And, with no sacrifice to quality and durability. Some people ask if compressing the springs will hurt their integrity. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Springs are actually shipped compressed all over the world (to save space). The springs integrity is damaged if they are pulled excessively or bent out of position. But, the way Nectar compresses its mattresses, they keep their shape and strength. The box arrives via Fedex. Simply unbox the mattress.
