Helix Elite Construction & Materials
The Cover
Helix begins with its most plush and luxurious quilted foam pillow top with the cool-to-the-touch GlacioTex™ Elite cooling cover. Normally an upgrade, the GlacioTex cover comes standard on the Elite. GlacioTex is a temperature activated phase change material (PCM) that dissipates heat ensuring temperature-regulated sleep all night long.
GlacioTex was specially formulated for Helix and contains micro gel beads
embedded within it that react to your skin’s temperature. Generally, our skin is 91 degrees, however our ideal sleeping skin temperature is 88 degrees. The gel beads are designed to maintain an 88 degree surface temperature. When the temperature exceeds 88 degrees, the gel activates pulling heat away. When the temp is below 88 degrees, it solidifies and lessens the heat draw. This changing material is what makes the Elite cool to the touch and so popular with hot sleepers.
Tucked just underneath the GlacioTex cover is 1” of quilting to give you additional comfort and breathability before the cooling gel takes you in.
Comfort Layer + Micro Coils + Support Foam + Transition Foam
Helix Elite goes above and beyond and differentiates each model
at the comfort layer. They layer gel infused pressure relieving comfort foams and microcoils support systems on top of a conforming support core foams and even more microcoils, followed by transition foam. With this painstakingly tested methodology, Helix can tailor each mattress to fit your unique sleeping style. Why a gel infused top layer? Gel pulls away heat from your body (think osmosis in HS biology). It keeps you cool throughout the night so you achieve the maximum benefits of sleep. Below the gel is a supportive foam layer that offers springiness and bounciness along with weight distribution. Why microcoils? Microcoils are individually wrapped and act to comfort and cradle your body with targeted pressure relief. The support core prevents that total energy absorption / super-sinking feeling of most memory foams. Finally, the transition layer offers an additional support layer and more importantly further dampens any motion transfer that may come from the hybrid’s spring system.

Coil System
Helix Elite’s support system employs Leggett and Platt’s Quantum® Edge Elite Combi-Zone®. The system contains Quantum coils along the edge and through the center third zone. The center zone provides superior hip and lumbar support, while the reinforced perimeter delivers a consistent sleep surface, reducing that roll-off feeling. The mattress center contains triple tempered steel individually pocketed coils directly underneath the comfort layer. This high grade steel provides superior support throughout the life of the mattress
Finally, for even more support where it counts, Helix reinforces the lower back lumbar region on all models.
Bottom Support Layer
The bottom DuraDense foam layer of the mattress provides base support and durability to the entire mattress. This final stage helps keep everything together and limits motion for the sleeper.
Tufting
Tufting is the process where the individual parts of the mattress are either sewn or glued together to prevent slippage. In Helix’s case, they chose top tufting, where the cover is sewn into the gel foam layer. Tufting helps keep everything nice and together. This is just another example of the little details Helix takes care of so you can rest easy.
Does Helix Elite Sleep Cool?
YES! We found all Helix Elite models offer a cool to neutral temperature control. Being cool at night is all about being dry. Helix accomplishes this cool factor through a 3 step process to disperse heat.
- The GlacioTex cover cools skin on contact and wicks away moisture
- The gel infused comfort layers pulls heat from the body (and doesn’t return it!)
- As the mattress is a hybrid, air is able to flow and circulate in-between the coil system

How about Edge Support?
Excellent
As mentioned in the “Support” section above, Helix Elite is one of the best in the business when it comes to edge support no matter which model you choose. Helix surrounds the outer edge of the mattress with stronger springs to make sure the mattress edge is “sag free”. This edge support increases the sleeping area so, for example, if one partner is a bed hog, the other partner can rest soundly on the edge. No chance of falling off, just sayin’. Finally, when you get out of bed in the morning, it gives you that little nudge to help you get out!

Helix Sunset Elite *Most Popular Plush* (Soft, Side / Multi Position Sleepers)
The Sunset Elite is Helix’s softest and plushest model and a top choice for lighter-to-average sized sleepers looking for a plush feel. The softer top layers give you a lavish, plush comfort – like sinking into a cloud. The luxury gel foam immediately relieves the pressure points on your hips and shoulders. Elite mattresses feature zoned lumbar support for enhanced contouring, a premium quilted pillow top with an ultra breathable cooling cover, and are 2” taller than the Helix Luxe mattresses.
From the moment you lay down on the Sunset, it is obvious that you’ve arrived on the soft, plush version. The gel top will envelop and contour to your body more than its firmer cousins such as the Midnight Elite. That said, after a few minutes, as you settle into the mattress, you can begin to ever so slightly feel the pushback from the robust pocketed coils as they begin to properly align your spine. You will definitely feel more “in-the-mattress” (as opposed to on top of it), but you won’t be sacrificing the support.
With the Sunset Elite, exclusive side sleepers get the best of both worlds: maximum pressure and proper spinal alignment due to the sinking of the hip and shoulder regions. Because the bed envelops you more, some think the bed will sleep warm or even hot. This is not the case with Helix Elite. The cooling gel foams combined with the air flow design and the temperature regulating cooling cover keep this plush bed comfortable all evening long.
The sweet spot for weight is up to 225 lbs. Above that weight, you’ll start to lose the benefit of the pressure relief from the gel as your body rests more on the springs. At that size, you might consider the Moonlight Elite or Midnight Elite model as the comfort layer provides additional support and comfort relief.

Helix Moonlight Elite (Soft, Stomach / Back Position Sleepers)
The Moonlight Elite has a soft, plush feel but with a touch more support than its sister, the Sunset Elite. Best for back or stomach sleepers and couples with different preferences, Moonlight Elite features Helix Dynamic Foam creating luxury support and even lift. Softer top layers give you that soft, lavish plush comfort you love – like sinking into a cloud.
The gel top will envelop and contour to your body more than its firmer cousins such as the Midnight Elite. The Moonlight may feel plush, however, it does not sacrifice support. You will feel that support system very slightly underneath to help with alignment to give you enough resistance to push back to fill the space in-between your body and the mattress. You will still feel more “in it” (as opposed to on top of it), but you won’t be losing the support.
Because the Moonlight Elite envelops you more, some think it may sleep warm or even hot. This is not the case with Moonlight Elite. The cooling gel combined with the air flow design and the cooling cover keep this plush bed comfortable all evening long.
The sweet spot for weight is up to 250 lbs. The superior construction of the Elite series allows it to support sleepers of all sizes. That said, above 250 lbs, you’ll start to lose the benefit of the pressure relief from the gel as your body rests more on the springs. You might consider the Midnight Elite as the comfort layer provides additional support and comfort relief.

- Moonlight Elite is primarily designed for back and stomach sleepers (multi-sleeper if on the smaller side) that still want a soft, plush mattress. Side/stomach or side/back sleepers seeking more support might feel more support on the Midnight Elite.

Helix Midnight Elite *Most Popular Overall* (Medium, Side / Multi Position Sleepers)
By far the most popular model, the Helix Midnight Elite a true multi-sleeper that supports all sleep styles. This not-too-firm, not-too-soft is great for couples with different feel preferences. It features luxury memory foam for pressure point relief on your hips and shoulders.
Immediately upon laying on the Midnight Elite, you can feel the cooling gel take you in but you quickly feel the substantial support foam cradling your body. Almost immediately you will feel the support of the coil system begin to push back and cradle your body no matter which position you sleep. There is just enough pressure relief on the top of the mattress but you are also going to have the support system that is going to keep you “on” the mattress rather than “in” the mattress as in the Sunset Elite.

Helix Dusk Elite (Medium, Stomach / Back Position Sleepers)
Closely related to Midnight, the Helix Dusk Elite is another very popular model. It comes with a little more support in the comfort layer making it an ideal multi-sleeper. Still in the medium to medium firm range, the added support targets the above average side, back, and stomach sleepers and more ideal support for larger sleepers.
As with the Midnight Elite, upon laying on the Dusk Elite, you can feel the cooling gel take you in but you quickly feel the substantial support foams cradle your body. Almost immediately you will feel the support of the coil system begin to push back. Dusk Elite is primarily designed to support stomach/back sleepers. There is just enough pressure relief but you will still sleep more “on top” of the mattress. rather than “in” the mattress as in the Sunset Elite.

Helix Twilight Elite (Firm, Side / Multi Position Sleepers)
The Helix Twilight Elite ventures into the firmer side of sleep. While still a multi-sleeper supporting all positions, the denser comfort layer definitely gives you the “sleeping on top” feel when lying on the mattress. Larger side sleepers that need some comfort before hitting the springs will appreciate the 6 inches of comfort level. Smaller back and stomach sleepers that prefer a firmer feel will enjoy the Twilight Elite as well. Very little sink or give in this mattress, it will feel very solid underneath. You will definitely not sink as much as you sleep “on top” of this mattress. The bed still packs in all of the same cooling features as it’s cousins so you will sleep cool and dry throughout the night.
The sweet spot for weight is up to 275 lbs. But really, the mattress can support sleepers of any size comfortably.

Helix Dawn Elite *Most Popular Firm* (Firm, Stomach / Back Position Sleepers)
The Helix Dawn Elite is their firmest model in the family still comes with an ultra luxurious feel. Ideal for back and stomach sleepers of all sizes the Dynamic Foam creates a luxury support and even loft.
The Dawn Elite is designed to support those of us that are larger sleepers, however the lighter fare have also found it to be quite comfortable. The bed is more responsive. When you push on it, it pushes back. This definitely makes it easier to get in and out of bed, especially with the zoned support system. The Dawn Elite is not designed as a multi sleeper for average weight individuals, however it can support all sleeping styles of larger sleepers. Average weight folks can easily sleep on their stomach or back, but the side will not provide enough pressure relief. They will want to look toward the Midnight Elite.
The sweet spot for weight is up to 300 lbs. This mattress can support the largest of sleepers.

Motion Isolation
Superior
All Helix Elite mattresses boast superior motion isolation. Simply put, you will not feel your partner move at night, even for us very sensitive sleepers. Whether they are a toss and turner, an early riser or using the facilities, it’s not the mattress that will wake you. However, there are differences among the styles due to their construction (if we’re splitting hairs). Sunset Elite and Moonlight Elite will have the least amount of motion transfer because the plush nature of their gel foam will absorb motion more than the denser foam comfort layers than their cousins. Any motion that may exist, will most likely come from the springs below, but the pocket coil system separates the springs further isolating any motion transfer. If you need total motion isolation, then look more toward an all foam mattresses. However, the superior design and attention to detail of the Helix Elite family get these hybrids as close to no motion as possible.
How does the Helix Elite arrive?
Every Helix Elite comes in a two separate boxes. Box one contains the base and zip cover. Box two contains the comfort layer. It’s crazy to think that a king size model
with powerful springs and dense foams can be compressed, but it can. And, without sacrificing quality and durability. Some people ask if compressing the springs hurts their integrity. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Springs are actually shipped compressed all over the world (to save space). Pulling or bending springs damages their integrity. But, the way Helix compresses its mattresses, springs keep their shape and strength.
The boxes arrives via Fedex or UPS. Simply unbox the mattress mattress base first and rest it on the bed frame. Once it is unwrapped, you may open box two and place the comfort insert on the top of the mattress. For convenience, the Elite has a heavy duty zipper to hold all of the pieces securely in place. You can begin sleeping on the it and enjoying a restful night sleep that same day.
What is Helix's Return Policy & Warranty?
Helix offers a 100 night trial period, giving you over 3 months to test out
your new investment. You can either return it for a 100% refund during the trial period. It truly is hassle free as Helix does all the heavy lifting. Here’s how both systems work:
- The trial begins when you RECEIVE the mattress (the Fedex delivery day).
- You can sleep on it for 100 nights. As there can be a slight break-in period, Helix asks that you not initiate a return during the first 30 days.
