Company Overview

We love the All American story of Brooklyn Bedding. A true entrepreneur with grit, vision and a lot of help along the way, John Merwin formed what is now Brooklyn Bedding in 1995. Not in Brooklyn, NY as one might think, but in Phoenix, Arizona (he named the company after his daughter, Brooklyn). Originally a mattress liquidation business, it soon turned to building a mattress and listing it on Amazon, just to see what might happen. Well, it took off and John launched Brooklynbedding.com. A pioneer in many respects, John was one of the original visionaries of a bed-in-a-box mattress packaging and delivery system. John wanted to ensure his beds were known for high quality at a price everyone could afford. Therefore, he took the entire manufacturing process in-house. To this day, all Brooklyn Bedding mattresses are made start-to-finish in their Phoenix factory; many on the assembly team have been making mattresses by hand for decades. They have earned a reputation not only for making one of the leading mattresses in the industry, but for quick delivery, superior customer support and one of the best trial and warranties in the industry.

As a testament to Brooklyn’s commitment to quality, Brooklyn Bedding now manufactures many of the top private label mattress brands on the market. Brooklyn lists 6 models on their website, but they also manufacture brands such as Plank (extra firm) and Dreamfoam. Now 25 years old, Brooklyn is showing no signs of slowing down – in the last two years, Brooklyn Bedding has doubled its production capacity. They have recently completed the buildout of a new 600,000-square-foot factory in Phoenix where even more mattresses can be handcrafted, on demand, and shipped direct to customers’ doors.

Let’s have a closer look at the Titan Plus Luxe’s materials before hopping in the its comfort style.

Titan Plus Luxe Construction & Materials

The Cover

Quilted Top – The cover begins with a 1” layer of quilted, gel memory foam.  This cushy material brings you in but is designed to resists body impressions and provides cooling comfort.

Cooling Gel Coating (upgrade) – The enhanced cooling experience begins as soon as you touch the GlacioTex+ cover.  Brooklyn applied cool-to-the-touch phase change material (PCM).  PCM areGlacioTex+ Cover heat activated gel microbeads.  Generally, our skin is 91 degrees, however our ideal sleeping skin temperature is 88 degrees. When they come into contact with a temperature greater than 88 degrees they liquify and activate.  Gel absorbs heat, so you get that cool-to-the touch feeling.  When the temperature reaches 88 degrees, the beads solidify and lessen the heat draw.  This helps the Titan Plus Luxe mattress regulate your skin temperature at the optimal level – making it very popular with hot sleepers. The weave is also ultra breathable and highly wicking so you stay cool and dry all night long.

Comfort Layer

Alright, there’s a lot of cooling and “sag-resistant” tech designed specifically with larger sleepers in mind in the comfort layer, so we’re going to lay it out as detailed as possible.

TitanFlex – The comfort layer begins with 2” of Brooklyn’s densest proprietary TitanFlex foam providing compression support. So, what exactly is TitanFlex and what makes it so special? TitanFlex is a latex alternative which provides the pressure relief of a gel foam with the responsiveness of latex. This means it provides the best of both worlds by evenly distributing pressure across the mattress with just the right amount of contouring and responsiveness. The result is exceptional pressure point relief that can help reduce joint and muscle pain. The cooling gel infused within the TitanFlex pulls heat away from the body, keeping you cool all night long. TitanFlex’s open cell structure and overall design enables it to have higher water absorption and greater moisture wicking. This engineering allows moisture to be released from the mattress more quickly, also contributing to a cooler, more comfortable sleep

Energex Transition Foam: Brooklyn’s dynamic transition is a key component of both the comfort and support of the Titan Plus Luxe mattress.  Energex further reinforces the support of the TitanFlex.  Both supportive and responsive, the dynamic nature of the foam allows it to spring back so you do not get any overly sinky feeling when lying on the mattress.  That said, the Energex is a key component giving the Titan Plus Luxe extra compression for that medium-firm feel.  The result is exceptional pressure relief that can help reduce joint and muscle pain. Additionally, the cooling gel infused within the transition foam pulls heat away from the body, keeping you cool all night long.  The open cell structure and overall design enables it to have higher water absorption and greater moisture wicking. This engineering allows moisture to be released from the mattress more quickly, also contributing to a cooler, more comfortable sleep.  You’ll have 1″ of ultra comfortable transition foam on the Titan Plus Luxe.

Support System

TitanCaliber springs add support and while conforming to the larger sleeperThe Titan Plus Luxe’s support system employs up to 1,032 individually encased 8” TitanCaliber coils directly underneath the transition foam. Brooklyn individually wraps each coil to mitigate any motion transfer in the mattress. This combination allows for exceptional reactivity and motion isolation, minimizing sleep disturbance. Brooklyn divided the spring support system into 3 zones to enable greater support where it counts (especially the lumbar region). Additionally, Brooklyn reinforced the edge with higher caliber perimeter coils to create greater edge support along the sides, head and foot of the bed. The result? A solid, sag-free support system that will last larger sleepers for years to come.

Bottom Support Layer

Underneath the Ascension coils, Brooklyn lays 1″ of high density foam to add further compression support to the mattress and absorb any additional motion.

Tufting

Tufting is the process where the individual parts of the mattress are either sewn or glued together to prevent slippage. In the Titan Plus Luxe’s case, it is a flat bed and the weave is stretched over the foam layers. To keep the bed as flat as possible, the Titan Plus Luxe has low level top tufting.

Does Titan Plus Luxe Sleep Cool?

YES! We found Titan Plus Luxe to offer cool toTitan Plus Luxe sleeps cool neutral temperature control. Being cool at night is all about being dry. Titan Plus Luxe accomplishes this through the optional GlacioTex+, multiple gel layers and finally the breathability offered by the dual core spring base:

  1. The cover wicks away moisture and enables you to directly feel the cooling properties.
  2. The gel infused and responsive comfort layer pulls heat from the body (and doesn’t return it!)
  3. As the mattress is a hybrid, air is able to flow and circulate in-between the dual coil system

Final result – Titan Plus Luxe will keep you cool and dry throughout the night allowing your body to get the rest it deserves.

How about Edge Support?

The Titan Plus Luxe offers excellent edge support.Titan Plus Luxe is designed with couples in mind for an incredible supportive rest.  Brooklyn added ribbing around the edge to strengthen the corners and edges.  At the end of the day, the Titan Plus Luxe comes with 4″ of supportive and contouring gel foam. That is going to have a little bit of give once you get out to the edge of the bed. That combined with the TitanCaliber coils helps keep you sleeping all the way to the edge of the bed with no worries.

Endurance Testing – Will Titan Plus Luxe Stand the Test of Time?

Titan Plus Luxe is Brooklyn’s most luxurious mattress.  Dubbed the Hotel Bed, Brooklyn spends a tremendous amount of time stress testing the materials to ensure that reputation.  The result? A long lasting bed that can support well over 1,000lbs.

Titan Plus Luxe Comfort Style

Most comfortable mattress for plus sized sleepers.

Where most mattresses built for larger sleepers rely uponThe medium-firm comfort layer conforms to the body but resists leaving body impressions firmness for support, the Titan Plus Luxe takes a plush, yet sag-free approach.  This has been welcomed by the larger sleeper looking for a little more comfort and possible smaller partners that need a softer mattress.

The Titan Plus Luxe is a luxury multi-sleeper designed to support all sleeping styles, side, stomach, back and any combination therein.  If selecting the optional GlacioTec+ cover, from the moment you touch the cooling cover you feel your skin temperature drop.  The three inches of comfort supportive foam begin to mold to the unique pressure points of your body.  However, you do not get that “quicksand” feeling as in most memory foam mattresses.  The Titan Plus Luxe is quick responding, thanks to the TitanFlex latex hybrid structure that fill in body impressions quickly as you move about.

Immediately you will feel the significant support offered by the zoned 8″ TitanCaliber coils to aid in proper spinal alignment.  You will feel substantial lumbar support without sacrificing the comfort.

There will be a touch of sink, just enough so that your are not “in” the mattress, but enough that your are not “on-top” as well.

The Titan is designed for larger sleepers and, as such, can support up to 300 lbs.  The additional comfort layers also make it comfortable for the lighter sleeper.

  • On Sandman’s Firmness Scale, we rate the Titan Plus Luxe a medium firm 6 out of 10.
  • This is a multi-sleeper, designed for all sleeping styles.
  • The significant cooling features and air flow will keep you cool and dry all evening long.
  • Edge support is excellent – the Titan Plus Luxe comes with reinforced edges and supportive foams.  Sleep confidently all the way to the edge – no sliding off here!

Motion Isolation

All Titan Plus Luxe comfort levels have very good motionBrookly Bedding has excellent motion isolation isolation. Simply put, you will rarely feel your partner move at night. Whether they are a toss and turner, an early riser or using the facilities, it’s not the bed that will wake you.  The high density gel foam by its very nature does not transfer motion. It absorbs energy. Any motion might come from the springs below, but the pocket coil system separates the springs further isolating any motion transfer. If you need total motion isolation, then look more towards the luxury all foam mattresses. However, the design and attention to detail make the Titan Plus Luxe as close to no motion as possible.

How Does the Titan Plus Luxe Mattress Arrive?

All Brooklyn beds come in a box. It’s crazy to think that aBrooklyn Bedding comes in a box delivered straight to your door king size Titan Plus Luxe with powerful springs, dense foams can be compressed, but it can. And, with no sacrifice to quality and durability. Some people ask if compressing the springs will hurt their integrity. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Springs are actually shipped compressed all over the world (to save space). The springs integrity is damaged if they are pulled excessively or bent out of position. But, the way Brooklyn compresses its mattresses, they keep their shape and strength. The box arrives via Fedex or UPS from their Phoenix, AZ factory. Simply unbox the mattress. Rest it on the bed frame and remove the plastic wrapping and the bed will decompress before your eyes. You can begin sleeping on the bed and enjoying a restful night sleep that same day.

What’s Brooklyn's Return Policy? Can I exchange my Titan Plus Luxe for either another model?
