The Cover & Comfort Layer

Support System

Natural latex is a foam derived from the

sap of a rubber tree.  As a result, it is more responsive than traditional memory foam (which absorbs energy) therefore quickly adjusting as one repositions while sleeping.  Latex does not retain heat like traditional memory foam, and it is perforated to allow consistent airflow throughout the evening.  In summary, your child won’t get that sinking-in-the-sand feeling on the Lark and the latex design will keep them cool all night long!

It’s important to note that the latex comes as one solid piece as opposed to multiple layers of latex because one piece provides greater pressure relief.  Two or more layers compete with each other as the surface friction makes it difficult to provide consistent pressure relief.

Tufting

Does The Lark Sleep Cool?

YES!  We found the Lark natural all latex mattress to offer a cool to neutral (i.e., not hot) temperature control.  Being cool at night is all about being dry.  The Lark accomplishes the cool factor through a 3 step heat dispersion process: 

1. The organic cotton cover wicks away moisture.
2. The natural Talalay latex not only pulls heat from the body (and doesn’t return it!), but is perforated to allow greater air circulation.
3. Finally, heat is further absorbed and disbursed through the second layer of latex, the support layer.  Warm air dissipates through the bottom of the mattress to keep them cool during the night.

How about Edge Support?

The Nest Bedding Lark has very good edge support.  The dense layer of Talalay latex ensures that the Lark remains “sag free” throughout its life.  This edge support increases the sleeping area so, for example, if your child likes to move around at night, they can sleep all the way to the edge.  No feeling of falling off.  Finally, because natural latex is so much more responsive than gel memory foam, when they get out of bed in the morning, it helps them get out!

The Lark is a multi-sleeper, designed to support side, stomach, back and any combination therein.  First, they are met with the 1” of cushiony conforming topper bringing them in and gives that welcoming cushion.  The latex pushes back ever so slightly but still conforms to their body, filling in all the nooks and crannies.  Latex is more responsive than memory foam so they will feel the push back.  However, the top layer gives some additional cushion so side sleepers can rest easy.    

Lastly, they will not feel the dense support core, but they will feel the support it provides – especially at the edge.  They should have no problem sleeping on the entire surface of the mattress as the edges are reinforced.  As demonstrated in the “kneading clip” the 1” top cushion layer gives a feeling of sleeping slightly “in” the mattress as opposed to “on-top” of it.   

Lark can support kids up to 110 lbs.  Any heavier and you should look more toward the spring support system of the Nest Bedding Owl.
